My name is Jennifer Lopez
and I recently obtained a degree in nutrition science. It has been a natural desire of mine to learn, teach, and implement my nutritional knowledge. My prior work experience, my volunteer experiences, and my education have all helped me prepare for this career. I am constantly learning everywhere I go, and I have seen how volunteering in a nursing care facility and obtaining dietary preferences is not always the easiest task. However, I have the patience, kindness, and perseverance to do what is necessary to help the residents obtain what they want. I have learned no matter what your age, everyone likes someone who will just take a moment and listen to them. Experiences like these have helped me strengthen my client interactions.
My bachelor’s degree in accounting and work experience in the past showed me where my passion laid, and it was seen in my communication with co-workers. I realized then, as is still true now, I enjoyed working with people instead of sitting in front of a computer. Co-workers were motivated by my dedication, consistency, and enthusiasm to exercise, eat healthy, and maintain a positive attitude. They wanted my advice on how they could improve their lifestyles regarding diet and exercise, especially when they saw me preparing my own snacks in the kitchen. I was no expert, but the question became this: why I could not be one.
I enjoyed the personal interaction of working with residents to obtain their food preferences for every meal of the week.
